Summer at Retreat East is all about making the most of long, lazy days outdoors. With 35 acres of meadow, woodland and kitchen garden to explore, it's the ideal time of year to slow down, soak up the Suffolk sunshine and enjoy alfresco dining under the open sky.

From sunrise yoga on the lawn to drinks beside the kitchen garden as the evening light fades, our barns and grounds are designed to be lived in just as much outside as in. Each barn has its own private outdoor space — perfect for breakfast in the sun or an evening glass of wine.

The kitchen garden is in full swing through the summer months, and our chefs lean into the abundance — vibrant salads, heritage tomatoes, fresh herbs and grilled fish straight from the East coast. Expect long lunches on the terrace, a relaxed barbecue menu and our signature afternoon tea served in the sun.

Beyond the grounds, Suffolk really shines in summer. The coast is just a short drive away, with sandy beaches at Southwold and the quaint seaside charm of Aldeburgh ready to explore. Closer to home, our complimentary bikes let you weave through quiet country lanes at your own pace.
