Long mornings, fresh produce and meadows in bloom

Spring at Retreat East

Spring is when the Suffolk countryside really comes alive at Retreat East. Hedgerows fill with blossom, the meadows are dotted with daffodils and bluebells, and the kitchen garden bursts into life with the first crops of the year. It's a season made for slow mornings, long walks and lazy lunches in the sun.

With longer days and milder weather, our 35 acres of Suffolk countryside feel more inviting than ever. Step out of your barn straight onto winding paths, watch the lambs in the neighbouring fields, or borrow a bike and explore the quiet country lanes that surround us.

What makes spring special at Retreat East

Our chefs have been working closely with the kitchen garden all winter, and spring is when their hard work really pays off. Expect a menu built around the freshest produce — asparagus, wild garlic, new-season lamb and tender young greens — alongside our signature afternoon teas served with edible flowers picked just steps away.

It's also the perfect time of year to soak up the local area. From the bluebell woods at nearby Bentley to the coastal walks of Aldeburgh and Southwold, spring in Suffolk is at its most photogenic.
